Description
Ellen Macomber is a painter, stylist, designer, and entrepreneur living and working in New Orleans. She was born in 1977 and received her Bachelor of Interior Design from LSU.
Macomber emerged as a Costume Designer upon her return to New Orleans in 2002. She began working as a fashion designer creating one of a kind pieces for local boutiques. It was her love of travel, unusual textiles, domestic and foreign architecture and rich color combinations that fueled her transition into theatre and film.
Since then Macomber has designed for plays both abroad and nationally, and has worked with a variety of theatrical groups. She also works as a costumer in the film industry and is a member of the Local 478.
In addition to fashion, Macomber has also made her way into the fine art realm. She has been painting on glass and experimenting with different techniques since 2001. Her glass art is on display in galleries and private collections. Currently Macomber's art can be seen in the lobby and restaurant of Hotel Modern, Still Perkin, and Big Easy Woodworks.
Macomber has also published My Louisiana; A Postcard and Coloring book, which features her pen and ink drawings of Louisiana architecture and can be found in stores throughout the state
