Love In Action Outreach

In alignment with our mission, Love in Action, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans, developed and implemented a food pantry to provide needy clients and households in New Orleans East with food distribution. We outgrew our first location and then moved down the street to a larger space. As our services continued to grow we did not have adequate parking or space to receive our clients. This put a burden on our neighbors and forced us to temporarily discontinue services until we could locate, lease, and move to a new location.

Our newest location, 4607 Dowman Road, has ample space for both food pantry and thrift shop services, as well as more than adequate parking. We have established a "Choice Pantry" service model which assures that clients get food products that will be consumed by their families and avoid waste or disposal of distributed products. We have refrigeration and freezer capacity to be able to receive food products directly from store shelves and have it distributed timely.

Additionally, the grounds are large enough to allow us to add community education, health, and fundraising activities. We look forward to continuing to serve all of our clients in New Orleans East and expanding the capacity to assure that we do not have to turn needy families away.
