Description
With its airy, bamboo-laden decor, soothing Eastern music and quick service, Little Tokyo is a favorite lunch spot among Metairie business folk. It's also popular as a dinner eatery for Japanese families.
Appetizer standards such as edamame (steamed soy beans) and ginger-dressed salads prep the palate for more adventurous creations like smoked salmon and cream cheese tempura, which is lightly battered and deep-fried. More exotic choices include shiitake mushrooms with oyster sauce and "Godzilla" (actually ostrich) steak. Several varieties of tempura, beef and chicken teriyaki and sushi samplers are offered in combination dishes for those who can't decide on any one thing. A la carte sushi and sashimi offerings--from tuna and salmon to eel and quail egg toppings--are always an option for wandering palates. Hand rolls are an extremely popular option.
