Mark Twain's Pizza Landing

Lived-in charm, perfect for casual diners. A handful of tables in the original dining room, with another 10 in an adjoining space. The interior is low-lit and humming--like a good corner po' boy shop, except za's the thing here. The half-dozen specialty pies could probably satisfy any appetite, but you can also build your own with the usual toppings. The house favorite, the "Mysterious Stranger," is a perfect blend of spinach, feta, hot sausage, choice of vegetable and a flavorful tomato sauce. The Creole pizza features shrimp, andouille, crabmeat and zucchini, none of which is offered on the made-to-order pies. Whole-wheat crusts are available for all pizzas--just ask your server when ordering. The small appetizer menu is surprisingly un-Italian, and the Caesar salad is unremarkable, though nicely portioned. A few sandwiches and po' boys, pasta dishes and desserts round out the menu--but you shouldn't miss the pizza.
